Wedding Trends

So much changes from year to year in the wedding industry. Although these trends can be fun and contribute to the design of lovely events, many of the trends don’t take into account sustainability and waste.

According to noted wedding designer, Alice Bracciali of Unique Events in Tuscany, sutainability is going to be at the top of the trends list for 2025. Couples are becoming much more aware of the waste wedding events can produce, and don’t want their event to negatively impact the environment.

If you want to plan a sustainable wedding, there are a few essential steps to help ensure your event leaves less of a carbon footprint. In the planning stages of your wedding, make an effort to find florists, caterers, and venues that think local, compost or donate leftover food, reuse and recycle, and avoid throw-away paper or plastics. If you’re hiring a wedding planner, let them know that sustainability is your top priority - ask them if they’ve planned a sustainable wedding before. If you are giving out favors to your guests, make sure the container they come in is compostable, and that the favor won’t eventually end up in the garbage. Also, ask florists if they use microplastic floral foam (known as Oasis foam), and if they do, ask them not to. Not only is the flower foam a dangerous pollutant, no flowers that have touched the foam can be composted.

The power that couples have as wedding industry customers and consumers can significantly impact the health of our planet. Lezlee
